This
is Jo Jo. She is spoiled but an athlete and very fast. She loves to
run every day and I leash her to my trike. We did a local small biathlon
this year and she did OK for her first time. It was a learning experience
and was a little warm out so I did not let her go as fast as she wanted.
Well in August, my hometown had a triathlon to raise money for my old high
school and it was called dog days. It is called Dog Days Triathlon so it
needed a dog correct? The organizer said sure, bring your dog but make
sure you don't slow down the other runners. Ha, we did not slow them down,
Jo Jo showed how fast she is. There were like 150 participants and one
dog. She (leashed to my trike) ran the first three miles of the triathlon. She
was in the lead by 1/2 mile. I took over then for the riding part and one
guy passed me right at the end. Next year we will enter and Jo Jo will
even go faster as will I and we don't plan on being passed. The pictures
of her are at the triathlon.
On non-race days, Jo Jo is always by my side. Every morning I make coffee
and that is when she gets her dog biscuit. She lives with another dog,
Willie, who is a bit older, bigger and in charge. She also has learned a
trick, when the phone rings and I start talking, barking leads to another
biscuit. It shuts her up and she has learned that trick. Not one I taught
her. There is also a cat, Carly. Carly is a good cat but Jo Jo thinks
Carly needs to be chased a bit, just for fun. Every day she goes for a
trike ride, about 3 miles of running. Sometimes we have errands and we go
to the grocery store, the post office, the bank etc. Everyone in town
knows us and waves at us when we go riding. When she is on the trike, she
is all business. Other dogs do not concern her as she has work to do, but
if a rabbit is on the bike path, we try to catch it. I think she loves the
trike riding as it allows her to be with me, full speed exercising (she
goes fifteen mph) and she gets to see the town.
