This
is Little Girl Dog, usually known as Li'l Girl or Girl Dog. She came
to our home about seven years ago from the local animal shelter with the
warning that she was a skittish two year old. She weighs only about twenty pounds,
so she is a little dog. The vet's guess is that she's a terrier mix. After
a few months Li'l Girl developed into the most docile and loyal pet that
we could ask for. In her younger years she would survey the perimeter of
the family's seventy acres, warding off the birds in the sky and herding
the deer towards the pond. Now, at nine years old (with a little arthritis),
she is content to watch over her realm from the front porch. She has
always been the most patient, gentle dog with people and the numerous pets
that live with us or just come to visit. She is, quite simply, a treasure.
