Amber, the Dog of the Day
Name: Amber
Age: Deceased, Eleven years old
Gender: Female Breed: Australian Shepherd
Home: Huntington Beach, California, USA

Amber was my first dog ever. She was an eleven-year-old, female Red Tri Australian Shepherd. She had a mind of her own; but a sweet one. She got jealous really easily, and knew how to wiggle her way into your heart. She was best friends with our other Australian Shepherd, Bella. Amber sometimes wouldn't even leave Bella alone! Amber really loved being with people, anybody at that! As long as she had the company of someone she was happy. Amber always knew how I was feeling, and could always cheer me up when I was feeling down. She loved going to the beach to meet new dogs, and to laze around in the sand while watching everyone else. She loved to relax under the Palm tree in our backyard. She was absolutely amazing at Agility. She was also a great catcher, she caught treats that I threw off the balcony for her to catch!

Amber was sadly put to sleep on June 21, 2011. She slowly was getting worse and worse, and it was horrible watching her balance from good to bad. We took her to many different Vets, all saying different things. Finally, the last ones said she wouldn't be able to survive another night, and it was all over. I stayed in the room with her until the very end, feeling endless sorrow, but knowing that she had a wonderful life makes me feel a little better. The photo of her lying down on the cement looking at me was the last photo I got of her, taken on her last day with us.

Rest in Peace, Amber, you will forever be remembered and missed!
