This
is Hunter, my rescued Labrador Retriever. We rescued Hunter from the
Humane Society shortly after our other rescued Boxer, Cinnamon passed away
in March 2010. Hunter is a great dog, very friendly, obedient and smart.
He gets along well with our Leopard Gecko, too. Hunter is always up for an
adventure, whether it's hiking, walking through the Forest or running
obstacle courses. He has tons of energy and when I set up make-shift
courses in our yard, he is jumping and speeding around like there's no
tomorrow! When we take him through the forest he usually runs ahead to
sniff everything, but always runs back when we call him-or when he
realizes I brought treats along! In the Summer when it gets extremely hot,
especially with where we live--he likes it when I pour some Water from a
Water Bottle and he sticks his nose under and licks it up to cool down.
Hunter can also be a very big cuddle-bug. On lazy days, he wants nothing
more but to cuddle up on the Sofa with his blanket and lay his head in my
lap. He also likes listening to music, playing Tug-Of-War and he always
picks up the pillows and rearranges them on the sofa until he finds it
comfortable enough to lay down. His favorite treats are his Milk Bones,
Bones and Sweet Potato & Fish treats. He knows a great amount of tricks
and commands like Sit, Shake, Roll Over, Circle, Jump and Hide. His best
would have to be Jump, when he jumps off all Fours and takes a treat from
my hand. He can jump pretty high, almost reaching my face! I also taught
him to balance treats on his nose, and wait for command before flicking
them off and eating.
When we take him down to the dog park, he loves meeting all the new people
and dogs. He's met a few dog friends there that he plays with whenever we
take him. There's Chipper, a Mixed Breed, Charlotte, a German Shepherd and
Bailey, a Maltese. He has lots of fun with them jumping over barrels,
sliding down the mini-slide, running around and playing Fetch with his
favorite Blue Tennis Ball or his Duck toy. He also likes swimming down at
the park. There's a Lake and he loves going in for a swim--either just for
the fun, or fetching his Water toy or a stick. When he's swimming in our
pool he also likes to jump off of the deck. When he was younger we used to
put a life-jacket on him, but now he's swimming like a pro! He's an
amazing fun-loving boy and I am so lucky to have him in my life!
