Meet
Bella! My husband and I adopted Bella from a military family that
was transferred to Australia. Because of the six month quarantine, her
family knew she wouldn't do well in a boarding situation without her
family. They put Bella's feelings and needs ahead of theirs and decided
it would be better if she had a new family to love and take care of her.
My main reservation with bringing a new dog into our family was that I
thought our friends and family would think we were nuts, given we
already have three dogs - a chessie, a lab, and a bichon frise. In the
big scheme of things, we decided what's one more 100+ pound dog? She
has blended wonderfully with our family. She was well trained by her
family which made the transition easy. Even though she's only been with
us a couple of months, we know we made the right decision to our hearts
and our home to a dog that needed a new family.
One of the perks of adopting Bella was that she is kennel trained, but
we had to learn to call it her "house". When it's time for bed, all you
have to do is tell her to go to her "house". She walks right in and lays
down. Also, she is a blanket baby. She has three different baby blankets
and drags each one out one at a time - the blankets are never very far
away from her. Bella is timid and leery of new people, but once she
warms up to you, watch out, she becomes a lap dog!
