Zoey
came into my life by accident (sort of). Our last pet had passed
away and I was determined that I was getting another dog and this dog
would be an inside dog. A friend of mine showed me a picture of Zoey,
who wandered into her friend's yard one day, skinny, covered in ticks
and had marks on her that frankly looked like cigarette burns. She was
very timid.
It was love at first sight for me. Everyone who meets Zoey just loves
her, too. She is gorgeous, laid back, sweet and is never annoying. I got
another dog after her who rules the roost and Zoey just lets her. She
has these soulful eyes that I call Cleopatra eyes because it looks like
she has eyeliner on. I have had her for five years now and she is still a
tad timid but she knows she is loved and she gives it right back.
I am not really sure of her age. I think she was about a year old when I
got her and as I said, I have had her for five years so she is at least six
years old. As for her breed, I think she has some pit bull or Boxer in
her, and possibly some beagle?
She is very shy but affectionate. The older she gets the braver she is now
that she knows that no one will hurt her. I really think she was abused.
She loves, loves, loves other dogs and perks up when another dog comes over.
My daughter has a Weimaraner mix and she thinks Ace is her boyfriend and
kisses him all the time. Which is one reason I got another dog so that she
won't be lonely. Can't say that she has any tricks other than she can sit
if she thinks she is getting a treat. She loves squirrels and can stare at
the tree for literally hours at a time. It's hard to break her
concentration when she has one spotted. I have a doggie door and when she
and Shelby spot a squirrel they go barreling outside like their life depends
on it, almost knocking each other over trying to be the first out the door.
When I take them on a walk, if she spots a squirrel or a rabbit, you are
about to get your arm pulled out of socket! Shelby, my other dog, is half
Sharpei, half lab so she is the alpha dog. Zoey is a big chicken so if
Shelby is being a big bully, she just takes it, even though she could
probably take her down in a second!
