I
love my very stubborn, a mind-of-her own, beautiful Lois. She lets me know
when she's not happy with something I'm doing, she nudges my leg towards the
door when she wants to go out, she always wants to eat, she doesn't like to
snuggle, but she is my wonderful old lady. She is our first of many dog paws...
we adopted her as a pup and started hiking her soon; it helped keep her
healthy all these years, at least I'd like to think so.
Lois came to us from Guiding Eyes for the Blind, New York, after she failed her
temperament tests at a young age of eight weeks old. She was afraid of loud
noises so could not start training; she had remained with this problem till
recently, now that she's lost some hearing, the thunder, etc. doesn't seem to
bother her. She lives a charmed life hiking, swimming in lakes, oceans and
any swamps she finds too. Lois lives with Savannah and Desmo who came from
the West Milford Animal Shelter, NJ, and Sweet Border Collie rescue, NY,
respectively. She made a lot of friends with rescue dogs at Animal Rescue
Services, NJ, too. Lois thinks rescue dogs rule! Her Mom and Dad do too!
My husband and I stay young because of our dogs by making sure they lead well
balanced lives with plenty of exercise hiking and doing agility, maybe we'll
live to be 90 because of this, but if not; we can honestly say our lives are
very fulfilled being woke daily by these wonderful fur balls!
