This
is Casper - Freeheelen Friendly Ghost is his registered name. He is a
tri-colored Rough Collie, the same breed as the collie of Lassie fame,
just his coloring is different.
Casper is a most marvelous dog. He does anything I ask him to. He has had
no formal training, yet walks quietly beside me, never pulling as he seems
to know I am handicapped and he has to be careful. He was the only pup
born from that litter, and is just a little spoiled, but such a beautiful
dog and such a joy to live with. He just sired his first litter for me and
is nearly finished his UKC Championship. I cannot run anymore, so
strangers handle him for me. He works beautifully for them, too!
Casper's Day: I get up at 7 a.m., get on the bed and cuddle with Mom, then
go outside in the yard with my Mom, Aunt and Wife for an hour. Then
Breakfast time, I eat more than the girls as I am a big guy and I run in
the yard a lot. Back outside until Mom is ready to take us for a walk. We
walk in the woods out back, we love running free and playing back there.
We nap in the afternoon with Mom as she needs the rest. Then we help her
get supper and share it with her and wait for dad to get up (he works
nights). After we watch TV for a while with Mom and Dad we will go out one
last time and then to bed. We used to do a lot of Obedience and Carting,
but Mom can't do that stuff anymore so we get to stay home and rest unless
there is a Show on a weekend.
My favorite toy is a purple turtle-shaped toy made of canvas. I love it.
Mom knew I liked my puppies when I brought it to them to let them play
with it!
I love all the people who have come to see the pups, not sure if I like
them when they take them away though. We live in a fairly isolated area,
so we don't get much company usually, but we love people when they do
come, but what I like best is my "Special" time with Mom at bedtime. I get
on the bed beside her and roll over upside down, and she rubs my belly.
After fifteen minutes or so I get off the bed and go sleep outside her door so
I can guard her all night while Dad is at work.
