This
is my new pup Roscoe (Roscoe Pee Coltrane). After our beloved Akita mix
Zain passed away at the ripe old age of thirteen we decided to go to our local
shelter and see who was there. Roscoe is a four-month-old Weimaraner with a
touch of Lab thrown in. He was found wandering the streets during a rain
storm. It was love at first sight when we saw him, so small and quiet in his
pen. Two different families put a hold on him at the shelter, but neither of
them actually came and got him. The shelter staff decided that three was
the charm and we were allowed to bring him home.
Once we took him home, after he met the other dog, Murray, and the cats he
climbed into my husband's lap for a good long nap. Being in a shelter is
stressful and the poor little guy was so happy to finally be home.
Roscoe is special because he's super smart. He knows cats are sharp, knows
how to sit, use a doggie door and he doesn't beg when we eat. He is paper
trained and after a week is nearly house trained. He loves to play with
squeaky toys and he loves to sleep on the couch and the bed, and if he can
snuggle up next to a person all the better. He's a bundle of energy and loves
his new yard and new friends. He is already protective of our yard and has
shown us a preview of his future big-dog bark.
We are so happy to have him, and can't wait until summer when he will be able
to go camping and to the lake with us.
