Maggie
came to me one year ago from a puppy mill after being rescued and
was a very scared little girl. She didn't know how to play and you could
tell she never had a toy of her own. When I gave her a toy she would grab
it and take it to her new bed and play with it by herself. She is the only
dog I ever had that picks up after herself. It took weeks before she
trusted me to play with her toys with her. Our vet told me that her health
was excellent but after two years of age it is hard to tell how old a dog
really is, so he declared her age to be five years of age on her adoption
date of August 15th, 2010.
Now she is a completely different little girl as she watches for company
to come because she thinks everyone comes only to see her. She is up on
her hind legs and dances for them. She does know how to bark but she will
only bark to wake you in the morning so she can go outside. Otherwise may
let out an occasional yip while playing with the two kittens in the yard.
Once again the lack of barking came from her puppy mill background.
We are so lucky to have her as she has brought us so much joy in the past
year. I know she knows how much she is loved and I can only pray she can
completely forget her past.
