Ripley, the Dog of the Day
Name: Ripley
Age: 4.5 years old
Gender: Female Breed: Red Bone Coonhound
Home: Culver City, California, USA

Hi! My name is Ripley Fern and I am a Red Bone Coonhound. You know the type of dog that is in the book "Where the Red Fern Grows"... well that's the type of dog I am. I am called a coon hound because I like to chase Raccoons. Sadly there are not many Raccoon sightings in Los Angeles, CA but I did have one on my roof once and it was like I found my destiny. I get excited over squirrels too but the Raccoons are what really get me going.

Another thing I like to do is bay (which is a dog version of singing). My best friend and Cousin Alma (a thirteen-year-old shepherd mix) lets me do all the talking when we are together. I love food but I never seem to gain weight. I also have a collapsible rib cage that enables me to crawl into many small spaces for Raccoon chasing (all us coonhounds do) but mostly I just collapse it to be the most fabulous 45 pound lap dog around. I love to take long walks and then come home and snuggle all day on the couch with you. Back when I was a puppy, I got stung by a bee and went into shock and almost died. I lived fortunately but it does make me grateful for life! Because of this I am extremely loving and loyal and will not forget you. Hopefully you will remember me too!
