We
got Cali from the pound in
October 2008, three days before we moved into our new house. This was the first place in
twelve years that we were allowed pets, so we went to the pound and she stole our
hearts!
She is a very playful but passive girl. She has spots on her skin that keep
coming/growing as she gets older. She is a snuggler and a bed hog. She has helped us
through some tough times and is truly a member of the family.
Cali is a sweetheart! She is passive, not aggressive. She plays but doesn't bite. She
doesn't bark often (which we love!). She doesn't know how big she really is, and will
jump on you like she's a lapdog. She also has a pretty hefty tail that you have to watch
out for when she wags it. She is very friendly with people and other dogs, but barks
like crazy at the mail carrier and PG&E meter reader! We live next to a small Jack
Russell, and Cali patrols the fence, trying to dig her buddy out of prison, so we have
cement blocks along the fence.
She can sit, lay down, stay, watch me... She is a calm dog, until it's feeding time,
then she jumps over the couch like she's a gazelle until the food is put down. Her
favorite things are walks, going "bye-bye," and running "hot laps" around the backyard
when she's got extra energy. When she's in the car, her nose is out the window - of
course. She rides shotgun instead of in the back. And I have her hair on everything I
own and wear.
When she's confused, she raises and lowers her eyebrows, first one and then the other,
tilting her head like she's in a TV commercial! Poor thing has allergies to pollen,
beef, wheat and corn. She's on lamb and rice kibble. We feed her raw vegetables for
snacks. She has a medicated shampoo and doesn't like baths - she shakes - but is excited
when done because she knows there will be a treat involved, so that helps her tolerate
them.
We love Cali!
