Hi
there. I'd like everyone to meet Copper. I'm actually not his owner. He
belongs to my sister and her husband but this wonderful dog has done an
amazing thing. He has converted a true cat lover to see the wonders that dogs
bring. In my opinion, he's the best dog ever! And that's saying alot as my
sister has had many many dogs. Don't get me wrong... it's not that I hate
dogs, it's just that I've always preferred cats. Copper though, has made sure
that I see how wonderful puppies can be. For the five months that I spent at
his place, Copper and I spent many hours on nature walks, playing with sticks,
investigating the creeks, and some cuddles here and there. Copper truly is
a very special dog. He even wanted to befriend my cat Cairo.
WOOF! Hi everyone. As my "aunt" mentioned, my name is Copper and I am an
fun-loving lab. My life wasn't always fun-loving and great as it is now. When
I was just a pup, about six months old, my owners left me on the side of a
highway. I was very scared and didn't know what to do. I can't remember much
but the vet figures I was hit by a car but with no serious injuries. Luckily I
was found by a caring couple who brought me to the police station as they had
contact with the vet who could check me out. Well I was in luck - it was there
that my new owner was doing some work and found out about me. He and his wife
(my aunt's sister) rescue puppies when they can and they had had to put down
one of their beloved dogs a few weeks before. I really impressed my new owner
and he took me to my forever home. He named me Copper because the cops took me
in initially.
I am so spoiled. I have a huge fenced in yard, off leash trails, tonnes of
"play dates" with the neighbourhood dogs and now an new little brother, Takla.
He's a Lab too... except he's a Yellow Lab. When my aunt was here, we would
always go for walks and she'd throw me sticks. I really like her. She likes me
too and gives me treats. She has a cat, Cairo, and I really wanted to be
friends with Cairo, as my cat sister Milo just ignores me. Cairo was cool but
always a bit nervous. As you can see below, I really tried to be friends with
him but he wouldn't come that close to me. That's okay, my aunt said it's
because he's never really encountered dogs and because I'm bigger than he is
so he was a bit scared. I wouldn't hurt him though. I do consider him a friend.
Thanks so much for reading about me and I am so glad to be dog of the day. I
am very lucky to have such a loving family.
Copper
