Snowy, the Dog of the Day
Name: Snowy
Age: Five years old
Gender: Male Breed: Cattle Dog, Husky mix
Home: Chester Heights, New York, USA

Snowy was a pup no one wanted. He was a special needs dog as he had a bad skin condition. His skin was bright red and oozing. No one wanted to adopt him, but I did. I brought him to my vet. He did tests and found what he was allergic to. With the right food and allergy shots he is happy and healthy. People tell me that Snowy is lucky that I found him. Not true. I am the lucky one. Not a day goes by that he doesn't make me laugh or give me loving. When I am home, he follows me all over the house. Wherever I am, there he is. He is my baby boy and I love him dearly.

I've had him for four years now. He loves playing with his brother Alex a golden retriever, and his two sisters Emily, a lab mix and Angel a lab/border collie mix. The cattle dog definitely comes out in him as he is always trying to herd the other dogs. Every night when he knows that it is almost time for dinner he tries to herd me into the kitchen to feed him. He loves going for walks and that's when the husky comes out in him as he always has to be leading the pack. He will keep checking behind him to make sure the other dogs aren't going to pass him. If he stops to smell something along the way, and one of the other dogs do get ahead, he must run to catch up and surpass them. Once he does he gets a little smile on his face and swaggers on ahead.

He loves laying on the couch in the front room to bask in the sunlight, to watch what is going on outside, or to take a nap. He loves when company comes over as I think he thinks they come over just to see him. He is the ultimate host, greeting his guests and paying attention to each one. Snowy has to be one of the happiest dogs I've ever had. He is constantly smiling and just loving life.
