Cochise
is a very special and very lucky Aussie. He was rescued at about ten
weeks old, and we adopted him a few weeks later. Cochise was very mistreated
as a young puppy and initially was afraid of everything and virtually
everyone. When I went to the home that was fostering him to meet him, I fell
in love. He slowly came up to me and sat in front of me looking up as if to
say "will you love me?" I took him home that day.
It has been a long road working with his fear of people, however he has come
very far. We took Cochise to puppy classes just two weeks after adopting him
and began doing some beginner agility that same fall! He has been a very easy
dog to teach and is extremely eager to learn.
Once he started to come out of his shell a little we realized that he is a
total goofball and has the best personality! Cochise is a very smart dog and
learns very quickly. He is a typical Aussie with lots of energy and a great
Butt-Wiggle! He loves to swim, to the point that he is actually obsessed
with anything water (the puppy picture is from the first week we had him and
he was tuckered out from swimming). He is also rather obsessive with frisbees
and tennis balls. Cochise is very social with other dogs and has lots of
playmates.
Cochise is the best dog I could ever imagine having as part of our family and
I believe he is a lucky dog as some people would not have the patience to deal
with his level of fear. He will never be the type of dog that boldly approaches
strangers, but he is as kind hearted as they come regardless.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my Aussie boy!
