This
is Clyde, my Redbone Coonhound puppy doggy! :) My fiance and I chose the
name "Clyde" on the way to Northern, GA to claim our redbone pup. It took us
no less than one minute to pick my sweet little guy out of the entire litter. He
rolled over on his back so awkwardly and looked straight up at my fiance. I,
"we" knew that was our pup. Clyde will be turning one year old on July 4 of this
year. He is a very outgoing puppy and loves everyone and everything. He chases
the frogs in the yard but not to kill them, he just wants to play with them.
He loves to fish to! He gets along with my albino rat, Powder. They are
bff's! :) (Best friends forever!)
Just the other day, Clyde fell ill out of the blue. One minute he was outside
romping around the yard with oversized sticks in his mouth, tripping over them
as he galloped along. Then the next, he's yacking up in the house and outside!
Clyde quickly became weak and made no effort to hold his body up or his eyes
open and plopped his pitiful body right in the rocks. (This was very unusual
because he loves only soft places to lay!) I became teary-eyed because it was
obvious something serious was wrong with my sweet boy. My fiance called the
vet and we had to await patiently for a return call. Clyde was still in the
same condition. After ten minutes the doc called back and Clyde's symptoms were
explained and she was very sure he was having a low blood sugar attack. We
gave him a teaspoon of maple syrup and Clyde was back on his feet within
seconds!
I love my dog. He's such a handsome boy, and we were glad he recovered so
quickly. Clyde is doing very well! He continues to spend his days sunbathing
in the yard and chewing up sticks and taking a swim in the pond to cool off!
He has now learned a valuable lesson that he must eat plenty of food and drink
plenty of water before romping around outside (which was the most likely cause
of his low blood sugar that one day).
