We
are twelve 6th-graders from Germany, and want to present Paul to you: Paul
is the school dog of our high school, the Andreanum, in Hildesheim, Germany.
He is a cream-colored Labrador and seven years old. Paul usually eats dry dog
food, but he also loves our food. Paul actually belongs to one of our teachers
and there he lives when he is not at school. At home, his favorite place is
his basket in front of the door because he can see everything from there. In
October 2008, his owner had the greatest idea: He brought Paul to school with
him, because people relax when they pet dogs.
Now, most students say, "Good Morning Paul," and after that "Good Morning" to the teacher.
Paul joins a 6th and an 8th grade during their lessons, at least two days a
week. Paul's favorite places at school are under the blackboard, under a
table, or between the legs of students. There, he usually sleeps but in Phys
Ed, Paul often runs with or against the students, and even then Paul still
does what he is told to. Some students think he really understands people.
Paul does not like it when his owner goes away. That is why Paul is always
where his owner is.
Every break and in all weather, students take him for a walk. Paul knows a
lot of tricks. He fetches all things you throw and he is also a very funny dog
because he often plays with plastic bags. If someone at school pets him, Paul
looks very happy. That is why the students that know him believe Paul is a
great dog.
In the teacher's lounge, Paul lies down and sleeps, or he waits for the next
lesson. So indeed, in the middle of a hectic school day, Paul makes us pause
and smile. That is why every at the Andreanum likes Paul very much.
