Zack
is many things to us from a beloved pet and a loyal friend to a true
survivor with a heart of gold. We got Zachary from a breeder when he was nine
weeks old. The breeder had already given him the name Zachary so we decided
to keep it. Though we call him Zack most of the time. We later gave him the
middle name trouble... big mistake perhaps because trouble always seems to find
him. But now we feel the name is rather fitting.
Zachary Trouble has a very special meaning "God Remembers Your Trouble." One
meaning of the name Zachary is "God Remembers." Zachary has had a lot of
trouble in his short life but boy, is he a fighter. When Zachary was seven months
old he started loosing weight and rather fast, he also had a lot of trouble
eating. Most days we had to force feed him to get anything down. At first we
just thought he was having trouble adjusting to the new puppy we brought home,
but in reality he was much sicker than we ever would have thought. The vet
kept treating him for a stomach virus but it didn't help, and sadly the
antibiotics weakened his immune system. At a little over a year of age Zachary
was finally diagnosed with a Gastrointestinal condition. Two years later after
treatments, a careful diet, and almost losing him twice, he is a very happy and
healthy dog. I really do feel like someone was watching out for him.
The other thing that makes Zachary so special is I feel he played a very
important part in my grandfather's recovery. My grandfather had a stroke about
six months before we got Zachary and he was having a hard recovery. Most days he
would just sit in his chair and not leave the room. When I went on my
honeymoon we left Zachary with him and when we came back, my grandfather was
on his way back to being his old self. There was life in him again. He was out
tinkering with his tools again and doing odd jobs. Zachary gave him a purpose
and a reason to get going that week and I do feel that if it weren't for
Zachary I probably wouldn't have my grandfather here now. In fact Zachary led
him to go out and adopt a homeless dog from a local animal rescue that really
needed a home.
Zachary is also the protector and best friend of my baby daughter. I've never
seen this dog bond to anyone as he has my daughter, and I feel safer knowing
that he is here with us. Knowing that he is looking out for my daughter just
as much as we are means a lot. As she grows I think their bond is going to
just grow stronger and stronger.
Zachary means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. He
touches every life he meets, whether it's his story or his one-of-a-kind
personality. There will never ever be another dog like Zachary. He is truely
one of a kind!
