This
is Jester, he was meant to be a racing greyhound but he decided that he
was much too shy for that, and refused to run, so we adopted him from The
Retired Greyhound Trust when he was just twenty months old.
He lives with another Greyhound (Perdy) and two Maine coon cats, Darwin and
Ember. Perdy is a typical girl and much too bossy for his liking, but he
thinks the cats are great as they have lots of fur and will snuggle up with
him and keep him warm on a cold day, he hates being cold!
Jester is still a little shy with strangers, especially men, but is much
braver than when he arrived, he's even turning into quite the guard dog, and
with his big bark tells the postman exactly what he thinks about him ringing
the door bell (it's a good thing the postman likes him!).
Jester is a typical greyhound, he loves sleeping - especially in the sun;
running in the fields or on the beach; and having his tummy rubbed. He also
goes to lots of events with his friend Perdy to show people how great
Greyhounds are as pets, is a model for a fabulous company called Silver
Peacock and has been a blood donor - greyhound blood is great for making
poorly dogs feel so much better! He also does tricks, quite a feat for a
greyhound, including "spin" and "shake hands," but only if there is a treat
involved. Well, why would you otherwise?
