Maggie
is our little miracle girl. She adopted us eleven years ago. Not long
after she came to live with us, we noticed that she was behaving strangely.
It turned out that she had an abnormal abdominal shunt that was causing her to
wander aimlessly, bump into walls, and drool constantly. This gave us a real
scare - we thought we were going to lose her. She came through her surgery,
though, with flying colors. In fact, the people at the hospital called us and
asked us to take her home a day early since her barking was keeping all of the
other patients awake.
Since then, Maggie has been our "daughter", best friend, and little Princess.
She loves to sleep in our (or is it her) bed, under the ceiling fan. She is
always asking for snacks. She will stomp her feet at us and at anyone who
comes to visit. Strangers think this means that she is mad, but it just
means, "Run around and play with me." We love her very much - love that is
returned many times over every day.
