Sheriff
is a really special pet. He's lived with us for a year now, having
been a rescue dog from the Dogs Trust in Kenilworth. He now lives happily in
Nuneaton. He is really good fun to be with, running like the wind but coming
back when he's called. He lives with an 11 1/2-year-old German Shepherd and he
knows he's too old to run with him, but they have found lots of ways of
playing together gently. He's very affectionate and loves to be cuddled. We
can't imagine why someone would want to abandon him - he's just the best!
He's not too good at tricks I'm afraid, but he is very good at catching mice
when he's out on his walk. If he thinks he's seen a mouse in the hedge, he
springs up like a gazelle. It's really funny to see. He loves to play with his
toys and his favorite toy is a soft toy with a squeaker that we call "Blue
Cow". He used to like stealing our shoes and hiding them but thank goodness
he's grown of that now! He really loves squeaky toys.
His name is quite unusual. It's the name he was given at the Dogs Trust center
before we brought him home, so we don't know why he was named Sheriff. We have
dressed him up in some little cowboy boots and a neckerchief and he looked
especially stunning and suiting his namesake. All he needed was a cowboy hat
and sheriff star to complete the look! We are so glad that Sheriff has found
his forever home with us. It's unbelievable that someone somewhere could have
abandoned him. Their loss is definitely our gain! Sheriff's looking forward to
his first holiday abroad this summer and naturally he looks just gorgeous on
his passport photo!
