This
is my little sweetheart named Banjo Blue.
Banjo is special to me because he was rescued with his brother and sister
from an old man who was going to drown them in a bucket. My friend went
out on an animal control call, and the man had about twenty dogs of
various ages in a barn. Banjo and his brother and sister were the littlest
ones, about eight weeks old at the time. He said he couldn't take care of
all the dogs, so he was going to shoot some of them and drown the littlest
ones in a bucket. My friend wasn't going to allow that to those poor
babies, so she took the three puppies and brought them home. I fell in
love with Banjo immediately!! He was the most adventurous and outgoing of
the puppies and I wanted to name him Frodo at first, but I decided to go
with Banjo because it's a tribute to being a mountain hound dog. I'm not
quite sure what he is a mix of. My friend said a lot of the dogs in the
barn looked like Beagles, so I'm sure he's part Beagle, maybe Blue Heeler,
maybe Australian Shepherd, maybe Bluetick Coonhound! He has such a sweet
personality and loves to be near me all the time. I let him and his big
sister Nova, my other rescue puppy, sleep with me every night and
sometimes my cat, Boogie, joins us. I love my furry family so much, but
Banjo is extra special because I saved him from a horrible fate. He is
about 25 pounds now and I assume he'll end up around 35 pounds. He is so
floppy, lanky, and goofy! Banjo is also really great with children. He
lets my neighbor's son climb all over him and never gets mad. He loves
playing "chase", which can be difficult when I'm trying to get him to come
to me and all he wants to do is run! I wouldn't trade him for anything in
the world. He's my little Banjo Blue!
