About Us
Samantha, the Dog of the Day
Name: Samantha
Age: Fifteen years old
Gender: Female Breed: Miniature Poodle
Home: Torrance, California, USA

My name is Samantha or Sammy or Boo Boo or whatever Mom decides to call me. Look girl, I'm fifteen, I can't keep up that well! Anyway, I came to live with my mom and my human brother when I was two months old. When I was six months old, mom accidently hit me across the head with a jar. Actually, I jumped up just at the wrong time so technically it was my fault, but don't tell mom, the sympathy over all these years has served me very well. I had a grand mal seizure, and from that moment on I have had epilepsy. So, after a lot of panic from my mom and brother and blood coming from my mouth and ears, I actually have done quite nicely over the years being controlled on medication. A pill wrapped in cheese twice a day, which is pretty cool.

Six years ago my human brother went off to college and has not lived with us since. I could really tell that mom missed him terribly so I have made it my mission to look after her. I do stay home alone all day while she is at work (that's ok, I get my best sleeping done then), but when 4:30 rolls around, I am up sitting on the side of her (our) bed waiting. Even if she is one, two, three hours late, there I am still on the same part of the bed waiting.

As I said, I am fifteen now and I can't hear anymore. That is okay because one feels love, not hears it. I am a five-pound miniature purebred poodle who stays in a "mutt cut" because every time I see a poodle in a real poodle cut, I can't stop laughing. Nothing against my brothers or sisters out there, it is just not for me. When mom first got me and we had our first visit to the vet, the doctor said that I could not be a show dog because I have an over bite and my feet turn out slightly. Thank God, I'm a cuddler, not a show girl.

Mom tells me that I have brought so much love into her home and that is what makes me so special. I hope she knows how much I love her too.
