Junior
is a finished champion who lived his first three years in Mexico.
When he needed a new home, we were thrilled to have him join our other
Clumber, Vinny, who is a year younger. Apparently, he never really
learned Spanish, or possibly just refuses to recognize it now that he's
here. He certainly has never tried to teach it to Vinny.
Junior is a very affectionate 75-pound lap dog, which is wonderful except
that he tends to leap without warning. When I'm sitting, it's best to
always be ready.
Although you'd think a bird dog like a Clumber Spaniel would love to be
outside playing, Junior has definitely refined sleeping to a high art. His
outdoor instincts perk up when I am able to walk him in a field off-lead.
Clumbers are not "stubborn" but do have their own agenda; it's taken a
while to train him for those walks. We live among a lot of wildlife so I
take great care when we are out and about. We wouldn't want anything to
happen to our special boy Junior.
