Grettel
is named after the youngest Von Trapp family member from the
Sound of Music movie. Grettel came into my life as a graduation gift to
my self from College. I had been looking for a black female schnauzer
for about a year and finally found a litter and Grettel was the older of
the two puppies in the litter, so she is a large girl.
One of her best characteristics is that she gets super excited to see
anyone! She squeaks and runs around like a crazy lady - so fun.
After a little training and coaxing, she loves to chase a ball; however,
returning the ball is a different story. Thus we play ball with two or
sometimes three balls, and often I run just as much as she does.
She is such a tender spirited dog; she loves people and animals, so long
as they are not other dogs. I call her a dog snob, as when we are out at
a dog park or meet another dog walking, she will have nothing to do with
them. She just keeps on walking. She is great with children and loves it
when they have snacks in their hands as their hand is right at nose
level. We found out that her little tail is the same size as a
two-year-old's fist, as the nieces have all tried to take Grettel for a
walk by her tail.
Grettel lives with two cats, Jack and Joe. When Joe was a little kitten
he would often cuddle up with Grettel in the pet beds and have a good
nap. A good day is evident by the grooming Jack and Joe have given
Grettel, and her fur is all over the place in every direction - we call
it 'cat licked'. All three of them get a long very well and are the best
bed warmers ever!
Grettel kind and loving, she is sensitive and tender, she is the best dog!
