I am a vet tech in the Annapolis, MD area with the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank (E.V.B.B.com). Yes, it's a doggy red cross! A few months ago one of our clients came in with her dogs that frequently donate blood. She knew I love the breed (and all bully breeds) and asked if I would take him. She has one male and one female pitbull, one male and one female pitbull/neopolitan mastiff mix and had Santo. Well the two males were dominant and Santo, being a bully breed and a puppy, was trying to figure out where he was on the totem pole. One day while playing with the female pitbull, their play got a little too rough and the male pit and pit/neopolitan jumped in. All of the dogs ended up with some fairly serious ouchies, but especially Santo and the female pit, and that's when she realized that three dominant dogs wasn't going to work.

Since he has come into my home he's been a huge pile of mush. He's getting bigger every day but he's the sweetest dog I've ever owned. Everybody adores him. He loves playing with other dogs, which is actually rare for his breed to be so dog-friendly, and especially his fourteen month old Great Dane pal owned by my friend. He also jumps up on my bed and cuddles with me. At night he gets so close that I wake up with him literally half on me. He has also donated blood three times and has saved up to 18 dogs lives already. He loves it! He knows the moment we pull into the office parking lot that its the cookie place. He just lays there and wags the whole time he donates. At home he follows us around and I joke about him being my third leg. He enjoys laying down with his 10 1/2-year-old border collie-lab mix brother! He loves to play tug and chews on all of his toys. He's just a big kissing machine with the most beautiful face. Any time is play-time with this boy! This picture was taken moments after donating blood a couple of months ago.
