This
is our new dog Zappa, we rescued him from a shelter in January. We
named him Zappa to coincide with our other dog Hendrix, an Old English
Sheepdog. Zappa is named after the rock n' roll musician Frank Zappa.
Zappa is believed to be about one years old and he's a Soft Coated Wheaten
Terrier. I was looking for a Wheaten on Petfinder.com for almost a year
until little Zappa popped up. I was delighted to see he met all my
requirements for a second dog and not to mention the shelter was a mere
30 minutes from our home in Glendale Heights, IL!
At first I thought Zappa was a bit of a "Blonde." He walked into the
glass door every time we took him for a walk. I think that was his way
of making his new family laugh. Now, he's a bit of a rambunctious pup
who loves to go between his brother Hendrix's legs and try and take him
out. Zappa is 30 pounds and his brother is 90lbs, that doesn't phase Zappa
in the least. He's game to play from biting his brother's ankles to
jumping on his back for a ride. What amazes me about Zappa is his
ability to always look happy, he seems to roll with the punches. He
always wags his tails and will do anything to jump and give you a kiss.
I thought for sure when he was crated at night he'd whimper the night
away, but he just settled in his little nook and slept the night away.
I'm also surprised to see how good of eye sight Zappa has. When I was
on the computer he would follow the mouse curser across the screen and
even bite at it! I'll have to keep him clear of my monitor now!
