is just perfect! I love the way she cuddles, she likes to sleep
underneath the cover between us and she just seems to really enjoy hugs.
She is quite energetic only 12kg (27 pounds) but she gets around and we
definitely can't forget her, she's just a happy three-year-old doggie girl!
Her breed is very mixed: poodle, dachshund, terrier mum, dad poodle,
speculations on beagle involved as well...
I wasn't ready to have a dog yet, I was renting a place and, well, I had
always planned to get a purebreed to show, but one busy day at the
pet store I worked at, I suddenly realized this cute little puppy around.
I remembered her from the previous week when her new owners came in and
bought her a nice red collar. The store was empty now so... what in
the world was this puppy still doing there? (Note: it is illegal
to sell dogs or cats in pet stores in Iceland so she wasn't left there to
be sold!) Moments later, her owner called and said "I'm the one who left
the puppy, you were so busy and I was in such a hurry and since you said
last week that you really thought she was a sweet thing and liked her I
thought you would want her." I was speechless for a second, thinking "Of
course I thought she was a sweet thing, it's a puppy! But that
doesn't mean I want to adopt every puppy that walks in the door!"
So I said to her "Well sorry, but I can't have a dog, they're not allowed
where I live. You'll have to pick her up since I'm closing soon." The
lady replied "Um, no can do, we don't want her. Our persians don't like
her and she is just peeing and pooping all over the place, so do with
her what you want good bye," and she hung up on me! I was outraged!
Of course she poops all over the place, she's eight weeks old, what
did she except? So I called the people renting me the apartment and
asked if I could bring home a puppy desperately needing a home and keep
her there until I'd find one, (there is no dog shelter in Iceland) I was
really pleased they said yes. So I called my boyfriend and asked if he
minded, he did, but since the puppy's need was great, he thought it would
be necessary and thus agreed.
I put up ads everywhere, on the internet pet chatrooms, in the
supermarkets in the newspaper and amazingly no one wanted the poor
thing! I had helped with over fifteen puppies to find homes and had quite the
success, but no one wanted this one, I was at a loss for words! I tried very
hard not to let her "get to me" since I couldn't keep her, but man she
is just that kind of puppy that totally jumps into your heart and stays
there! Since she did that with my boyfriend and our landlords too, the
rest is history :). We all love her!
