My
dog Teal is a blue merle Border Collie. She is my hill-walking
companion, she wears a yellow jacket for high visibility and is the
darling of all whom she meets. We live in Scotland not far from the
hills, this photo was taken at Glen Isla.
Teal is a great companion, there seems to be a telepathic link between
us and, of course, like most friends we have a language of our own that
communicates by looks as well as words. You know, there is something
about dog's eyes that convey its intelligence and there is that moment
when they understand and the connection of communication is made, that
will always be an incredible thing to me.
Like every other Border Collie that I have met, she is obsessed with the
ball or stick or whatever anyone is willing to throw for her, and she
loves to swim. She also carries a pack when we walk long distances.
Recently we walked 90 miles of the Southern Upland Way together and she
carried a 15 litre pack all the way. The only thing is, like most pets,
she thinks that she is human so, when we are camping out she regards my
bed as her own! She sleeps under my sleeping bag, and is warmer than
any hot water bottle.
