On
the top stair is The Bubby, a Chow/Shepherd/Akita mix. What makes The
Bubby special? The only toy he will play with is a laser pointer, and
can chase it until we get so tired of holding it we have to stop. He can
recognize the words "Laser Beam" and "L.B." so we now have to call it
"the pen that emits light" so he does not go too bonkers. He is also
extremely intelligent, able to recognize about 300 words from the
English language.
On the middle stair is Scrumpers, a female Basset/long hair
Dachshund?/mutt mix (we have no ides what she is!) What makes Scrumpers
special is that Scrumpers is a very loyal dog. You would not know it by
the way that she looks, but she can run like the wind, and run circles
around most dogs. When we got her at four months, the vet told us she would
grow 5" longer! We didn't believe him, but she did grow. We call her the
brown tube.
On the bottom stair is Fermi, a female Corgi mix. Fermi is a lover! We
say she is in full retirement stage with us. She sits on the couch all
day in her special spot and only gets up to greet us when we come home
and when she has to go out to take care of business. She is probably the
most well behaved dog I have ever known. We call her the black tube.
They all get along together and keep each other from boredom. My pets
all love to be photographed together, as you can see. They each have
their own unique personalities and keep life very interesting for us.
They are special to us, too, because they have all been rescued: The
Bubby was found starving in New Mexico, Scrumpers came from a shelter in
San Diego, CA, and Fermi came from the shelter in Bend, OR. They are
most excellent beasts!
