This
is Lexie. We met her when she was just one week old and fit in the
palm of my hand. She was one in a litter of three and couldn't look any
more different than her brother (Rex) and sister (Charly). Rex favored
the English Springer Spaniel and was black and white. Charly, whom my
best friend adopted, looks like a black lab. Lexie, of course, looks
like a yellow lab. We brought her home just after July 4th, 2000, and
have been inseparable since. When Lexie was a puppy, she use to sit in
my lap. Now at 65 pounds, she still thinks she can fit!
As you can see from this photo, Lexie is a soccer dog. She loves to run
around in the back yard with her soccer ball. She actually has two of
them. One in her mouth and the other is nestled between her two front
paws protecting it from anyone who tries to take it away. I don't know
who has more fun in the yard, my husband throwing the ball or Lexie
chasing it down. She is a great family dog. She just lives for all the
love and attention she receives from us. Its hysterical to see my
daughter hug Lexie. Lexie rests her head on my daughter's shoulder and
wraps her paw around my daughter's waist to hug her back. It's adorable!
My daughter also loves to lie on top of Lexie. And good dog that she is,
she just lays there as gentle as can be.
Lexie likes to follow me around the house during the day. My family
calls me the "pack mama" - whether I'm cleaning house or working on the
computer, Lexie is right there with me. I never thought another dog
could live up to the dogs I grew up with, but Lexie, with her big brown
eyes, has a way of melting your heart.
