Teddy
is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who was born on February 14, 1998. His
breeder was going to keep him for showing and breeding. But when Teddy
was about ten weeks old, she noticed that he had a genetic defect that
eliminated him from the show ring and from breeding. He had to go to a
pet home, so we got him!
About a year after we got Teddy, he got bladder stones. He had to have
a major and expensive surgery to remove them. When we brought him
home, he was in a lot of pain. I felt so sorry for him. After he fully
recovered from surgery, he got stones again. We decided it was not in
his best interest to go through the pain of another surgery, so we
decided to have him put to sleep. I was heartbroken. That evening, my
Dad came home and looked on the Internet. We found out about
prescription diet S/O that was designed to dissolve struvite stones.
It worked!!!
Teddy is a certified Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog, visiting
nursing homes and hospitals. He is also beginning to compete in
agility and obedience. He will never be off of prescription diets or
distilled water but the life he has will always be known as "good
quality"!
