This
fall Elsie went from rolling in worms in her very own back yard
in St. Louis to the queen of the urban jungle in Astoria (Queens), New
York. She made the transition with spunk and enthusiasm, but misses
grass desperately. For fun, we ride into Manhattan on the N train and
visit Central Park and dog-runs all over the island. Elsie is very
grateful to have some good friends who invite her to Cape Cod or New
Jersey so she can reacquaint herself with nature. Elsie has served as
a doggie ambassador to many children in the neighborhood introducing
them to the softness and love of a pet. She's known far and wide as
the "dog with boots" (sneakers, shoes, slippers, boxing gloves) and
has made hundreds stop, smile and laugh! These boots protect her feet
from hot pavement, broken glass, lit cigarette butts and chemicals
found on city streets. We like to joke with people who inquire about
the boots that Elsie is a paw model! There is no doubt, she is a joy
to have as part of the family.
